Disaster crews As a result of acts of terrorism on the United States during the past few years, Southwest District Health created the Office of Public Health Preparedness in cooperation with the State of Idaho, the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the other public health districts in the State of Idaho to develop a local, regional and statewide strategy to respond to any public health emergency.

Disaster crew The Office of Public Health Preparedness is responsible to support all our local response organizations such as law enforcement, fire departments, emergency medical services, news media, and health care facilities to plan, train, and be ready for a variety of public health and emergency situations.

Events such as communicable disease outbreaks, food and water-borne illnesses, natural disasters, as well as bioterrorist acts may require a community response. The Office of Public Health Preparedness is creating community partnerships to ensure the counties of Adams, Washington, Gem, Payette, Canyon and Owyhee are prepared to respond to any public health emergency.
